1. Organize your thoughts on the project.
What
do you want to accomplish with the remodel? If you are considering
adding living space, how will this space be used,
and who will be using it? What are your priorities of wants
and needs?
2. Do a preliminary sketch or write
down some of the things most important.
Cut out
pictures from magazines that have features, concepts, and
ideas you like. Write down the dimensions of the
space to be remodeled, making note of required wall changes,
possible
alternatives, etc.
3. Contact Cascade Design/Build
(206) 632-4300 in Seattle; (425) 454-4154 -Eastside.
We
will ask you some basic information over the phone, and
then one of our consultants will contact you to
set an appointment
for looking at the project.
4. The initial appointment.
During
our first visit, we will talk with you about the remodel
project you are considering. We will
go over
any materials
or sketches you have, and then take detailed
measurements of the space. We also take photos of the project
area, for reference in working out our proposal for
your
project. Establishing
a preliminary budget range is an important part
of
this visit. Our consultant will normally be able
to give you
an approximate
dollar range for the scope of the work you are
considering. He or she will then discuss your budget
objectives
to assure that our proposal fits within those
objectives
5. The second
visit.
Typically, on the second visit,
the Cascade Design/Build consultant will have
a preliminary drawing
of the project,
as well as a written proposal with a dollar figure.
He or she will also have trade and customer references,
photos of completed projects, and possibly some
samples or brochures
of materials specified in the proposal.
6. "In
The Works."
Once the project is
approved by the owners, we schedule the project
into production and begin
to coordinate
all the components
for the project: final, detailed plans, permits,
ordering of materials, scheduling, etc.
7. "How
long from start to finish?"
Every
project is unique. Scope and size of the work
are two of the key factors in determining
how long
the project
will
take. Site access, special finish work, change
orders, etc. can all impact the finished date.
This is another
of the
areas where Cascade Design/Build excels. We have
our own craftsmen who have extensive expertise
in remodeling.
This
assures that your project will (1) get done on
time, and (2) get done to your satisfaction.
